Dear Sammy:

I hope you remember struggling at writing this letter. Let us pray that it will turn out decent. Any-who, I hope you have graduated from Early College already! If not, I hope you are working on your way to graduating. Hopefully, you are doing well in your classes with at least a GPA of 3.0 and working on the classes towards your future career. STAY FOCUSED ON SCHOOL, but maintain your family and friends time! Never forget who you are for anyone else and remember that your education must come first.

Do not ever forget who has gotten and helped you to this point. Whether it be a small change or a big change, make sure they realize that you are thankful for them and everything they have done. Right now, writing this, you are surrounded in a room full of these people; never drift away from them. Remember family is the most important. They have and always will be there for you. No matter how much you argue with them, remember that they love you more than anyone else. Remember that they are always going to be proud of you as long as you do what is best for you. Maintain a stable relationship with them, as you have now, and spend most of your days with them while you can.

Remember she is always watching. Stay focused and make her proud because she will make sure that everything will go good in the end. Stay focused on your goals, and do not forget to visit her on your graduation day; make this a top priority. She has always been proud of you and loved you no matter what; nothing can change that. She will want you to remain positive; even throughout the toughest times. Stay focused on your goals, and you can achieve your dreams.

With much love,

Samantha Torres
Student at Early College

Forgiveness

I feel my heart throbbing,
Beat, Beat, Beat.
My heart is filled with pain.
The betrayal was discrete.
The constant lies,
Playing pretend,
Thinking I would not end our ties.
I thought we were friends.
I will not stand by,
This is now the end.
Til this day we do not speak,
You were my best friend.
We will meet,
Once more. Until then,
I will cherish the memories,
before you were no longer my friend.
Now, I thank you.
I have become wiser; you have taught me a lesson.
Who knew?
Who believed this would be our outcome?
I am not regretful.
I loved everything you had done,
Until I knew the real you.
It was all fun,
And I forgive you.
Of course nothing can be undone,
But what good is it to hold a grudge?

Love and Compassion

What would life be without love or compassion? I believe the world would be filled with hatred and anger. Many people simply put up with the way others act because they love them. If I were to have a child who was very rude and insensitive to me and others, I would try to help them be more caring and compassionate because I would care enough about them to invest my time to help them be a better person. If there were no love or compassion in the world, I would not waste anytime on the child and not care about what they said or did. Without love or compassion, many of us would be alone from the very beginning of our lives. We may also stay alone because we would not have the patience to deal with others. Many of us make the time and patience to help others and deal with anything they do and continuously love them. Many people would be rude and care less about things such as animals, family, friends and nothing more than themselves. The world would be a selfish place and many things would fall apart. Jobs would not successfully get done and many people would be homeless. Love and compassion is a great impact on our society and without it, the world would be a much lesser place to live.

Responsibility

I have encountered many situations where I feel that the responsibility should be shared, although instead, it is put all on one person. An example of this would be when students work in group projects. In my experience, many issues have occurred where one student decides to do absolutely no work, and one or two students are left doing all the work. Although it was the responsibility of all of the students to finish and work on the project, one or two students may fail to do so. I personally believe that, in this case, it is the other student(s) responsibility to finish the project correctly so that that student will get the grade they deserve. This student should also mention to the teacher about how the other students failed to complete their part of the project. I do not believe leaving all the work to one student is fair, but it is also not right for none of the students to work on the project just because one student decided not to. The credit and grade the student receives should be rewarding and appropriate to the amount of work done by that student.

Science Fair

Every year at my middle school, we had to do a science fair project. The assignment was worth over half of our grade, and they had to be original (no volcanoes.) My mother never had the patience for any of my projects, therefore I mainly had to do these by myself for years. I would spend weeks on this project, trying to make my project perfect. At first, I would pick harder projects unknowingly. One of my first projects, in about the fourth, was on the reaction of a balloon that was filled with various liquids. Not only was this project messy, but it involved bringing many different items and balloons to school to perform in front of many. I was very nervous and spilled part of my project. After a couple of years, I figured out easier and less messy ideas for my project. These mainly involved the observations of my pets. The last project I did involved finding out which toy the different dogs preferred the most and why. Although these were difficult at first, I soon learned to make it easier on myself and have a better performance. With this, from the fifth grade to the eighth grade, I won either third or second place out of all the students in my school. From there, I also got to compete with other schools doing scinece fair projects. It was a fun and unique experience that I will never forget.

Exploring!

People throughout the ages have explored the unknown simply starting off by asking a question. The curiosity of mankind has developed new technology throughout time to answer these questions. For example, the invention of the telescope, helped the common belief of that time which was that the Sun revolved around the Earth. Without this technology and development of mankind, we would not have the knowledge we have today.
Individuals have devoted themselves to a life of exploration and discovery because it is natural human nature to discover new facts. It could be a fascination to the individual and they may want to take action to discover why something is a certain way. Most may take a job for the money, while others may do it for the love they have for that subject. Somebody may love to explore and could want to be the first to discover and introduce something to the world. Although this may be fun for them, it could also call for some sacrifices.
Some sacrifices that these individuals may have to make could be crucial to many aspects of their life. For starters, they are risking their lives everyday. They also would not be able to see or even possibly contact their family. They could be deprived of sleep and they would have to live somewhere other than land for months. There could be harsh weather conditions and things that could possibly alter their planned trip.

Being Honest

Personally, I believe that everyone should always be honest because if you lie about ANYTHING, the truth will always come out. When the truth finally does come out, it will hurt the other person because they did not get to hear the honest opinion of someone and the person they asked for an opinion on, has lied to their face. There have been times where my best friend has lied to me and I have become upset and did not wish to speak with him for quite some time. I do not understand why people should lie about something simple. If the situation is necessary to lie, such as a life or death situation, then I believe the person should lie. If I had to lie to someone to save their life, I would. Other than that, I do not believe in lying. The truth will always be heard in the end. Whether it be soon from when the lie had been told or after (including years or even decades) the truth will be heard.

Struggles, Acoomplishments and Goals

Being in Early College can be tough. Of course it is not like a normal high school, but it can be pretty easy at times as well. I am a firm believer of "what you put in, is what you get out." During my high school experience I have encountered many struggles; although throughout these struggles, I have accomplished more and will soon reach my goals.
High school has been a great experience. Over this time, although, I have faced many problems. One of my greatest struggles is the fact that I do not take the time to study. I believe, because of this, it causes other academic struggles. This includes not being able to to understand Physical Science very well and not being able to remain  higher than a B.
Although I have had many academic struggles, I have also had accomplishments. At one point this year, I received a D in Physical Science and was required to attend tutoring. The tutoring honestly helped and I started to study harder to help myself understand the material. After all my hard work, I raised the grade from a D to a B. Physical Science was the only course that I did not receive an A or B in; but now because I raised it to a B, I have a GPA of 3.0.
I am very pleased with my GPA of 3.0, but I have a goal of reaching a GPA of 3.2. This would be require getting at least three A's on my report card. Next year will be college classes and I hope to get higher grades or remain at a 3.0 GPA. My greatest accomplishment within the next six months, would be to receive a GPA of 3.2 or higher.
During my high school experience I have encountered many struggles; although throughout these struggles, I have accomplished more and will soon reach my goals. Soon, I hope to graduate with my associates degree and move on to becoming an ultrasound technician.

Bullying

I believe people bully online because of petty jealousy issues or the fact that people are just down right mean. I believe many people envy those who they may believe are better looking than them or are jealous of how smart the other person is. For example, on television, they portray that many "nerds" being bullied. They also portray that the bully may have issues at home; they may want to take that anger and frustration out on someone- therefore they bully the "nerd." Online bullying most likely happens because someone envys another person's looks, life-style, or family. I also believe they may be too scared to say something to the person in person so they bully online. If this were to happen and I was present, I would most likely make sure the person being bullied was okay and sure that the bully was doing that being they are insecure and the person being bullied was fine with nothing to worry about.

WRONG AND RIGHT

I do not believe it is right to take things that do not belong to one but to another person. I believe if someone wants something, they must work for it themselves to get it. There are many people who work hard everyday to make a living to try to provide for their families. As the caption basically says, the woman had her home taken away from her because of someone else's mistakes. Whoever sold her the house, probably never told her that the home was built on illegally sold property. It was not right for them to take away her home when she personally did nothing wrong. They should have taken the case to court given the women a notice to find a new home. This was wrong of them to just demolish her home. In any case or scenerio, it is wrong for others to take other's belongings.

Those who serve and protect

I believe people are willing to give up their lives for others because growing up, they dream to be a hero. They are giving, kind and caring from the beginning of their lives. They are selfless and care for others. They are the type of people who would pull over on the side of the road to help another with car troubles. People who join the army may join because they want to serve and honor their country. They may also just want to defend their family and protect their home. Those who would rather defend themselves in a scary situation, are cowards and selfish. These are the people who even if they are wrong, will blame someone else for their mistakes. They are never heroic and rarely ever help anyone because they fear for their own safety and care about nobody but themselves. Who are you? a hero or coward?

If there were anyone I could meet it would be Barney Stinson from "How I Met Your Mother." (Actor Neil Patrick Harris) I would want to meet him because he is an amazing actor and his character is one of my all time favorites. I would want to go to the mall with him because he is very funny and just picturing all the jokes he would make is hilarious. His character states my all time favorite quote, which is, "When I'm sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead!" He seems like an amazing guy and I would think he is a very upbeat, happy and positive person. He would be amazing to hang out with. My favorite quote from the show would be "It's gonna be LEDGEN- wait for it, I hope you're not lactose intolerant because the next half of this word is- DARY!" I would absolutely love to meet him.

Winter Break.

Over break, I hung out with Sara. She came over my house and we had a blast! We watched Mean Girls and How I Met Your Mother. We also had a marshmallow fight, and afterwards we drank hot coco with our stuffed animals because we are fancy like that! We also played Mortal Kombat and Call of Duty. I beat her at Mortal Kombat but then she whooped me in Call of Duty! We stayed up all night and laughed at both of my dogs as one jumped on the other. My fat dog has a pillow because she is too big to jump on the couch and my fluffy dog was laying on the pillow, so my fat dog just sat on the fluffy dog! Then when the fluffy dog got up, the fat one stayed on top of her so the fluffy dog had to kick her off. Oh, what a night!
